When I ran for Congress in 1998 and again in 2000, I made it plain that people in same-sex relationships should have the right to marry and enjoy all of the legal emoluments of that status.  I remain convinced that All God's Children should be permitted to celebrate love wherever they find it.  Gay and Lesbian couples should be free to join in matrimony.  The people of the State of Missouri have voted overwhelmingly in opposition to this stance, and while I favor greater freedom within reasonable confines of morality and decency, I would not act against the will of the people in any legislation to come before Congress.  I would encourage people to look closely into their hearts and souls to see whether God desires that we love all his children as fully as does he.
